The five on the secret trail by Enid Blyton

Timmy is having a lot of trouble with an injury on the back of his ear as he keeps scratching it. So George's mother decides to put a cardboard collar around his neck. But as the days pass her mother and father including everyone else keep on laughing at how silly he looks with it on. So George decides to take him to a place where everyone but she, Anne, Dick, and Julian can only see him. They found out they were camping only one mile away from old ruins of a very old cottage. As they set up camp the next day they meet this very bad tempered new boy an archaeologist digging up some funny looking trenches. Days had passed and they thought they kept on meeting the same boy again bad tempered or not but no. As they were having breakfast one morning that today they would explore the old cottage. That night they slept inthe cottage and herd strange noises and lights. The next day the five found the boy crying, he told them he had a brother and he had been stolen that's why he had been around a lot. That means we have company. Discovery Comments What they discovered is in bold. What I discovered that Enid Blyton books make a big difference in reading. How many Enid Blyton books have I read is 6. Reviewed by Judith (7)

Alice Miranda on holiday by Jacqueline Harvey

Alice Miranda on holiday was a really good book, when you start reading it you never stop. From the very beginning its so interesting. She has just finished her first term at boarding school and invited her friend Jacinta to stay at her house. They go and visit Alice Miranda's friends and discover a stranger. The stranger is very rude. Things get bad when an intruder is in their garden. They find out the intruder is trying to steal the recipe. In the end the intruder gets caught! Reviewed by Frances(10)

Iggy Pig's Party by Vivian French

I found Iggy Pig's Party at Moss Vale Library. Because there was a pig in it, I decided to borrow it. Iggy Pig's Party is a cute story about a pig having a party. The story was simle but fun and happy. The biggest discovery for me with this book was discovering that I loved to read. Reviewed by Cedar(7)

Miss Broomstick's School for Witches by Jan Dillon

I have discovered I really enjoy reading books about good witches. This story is about a girl witch named Pandora who is quirky just like me. Pandora means well but she sometimes gets into a muddle and accidently causes trouble or a mess. Pandora sometimes rushes in and that's when things go wrong. I have discovered that I should be more patient but I don't think I will change any time soon. I have discovered that I now want to read more books about good witches including any books written by the same author because her story made me laugh. Reviewed by Paige(10)

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S.Lewis

The book, 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', by C.S Lewis, is a book about the discovery of a magical land called Narnia. Edmund, Lucy, Susan and Peter enter narnia by going throughthe wardrobe they discover in a spare room. As they enter narnia they meet Mr.Beaver who is a unique animal because he can speak English. They discover that he has a wife called Mrs. Beaver who lives in a house made of sticks. As they talk to the Beavers, Edmund quietly sneaks away to the Witch's castle. The other children soon find out he has left for her castle in between two mountains. The White Witch sends her minions, the wolves, out to kill the children when she find out from Edmund where they are. It soon becomes spring because the children are closer and closer to making the prophecy come true. They meet Aslan and he makes a deal with the Witch for Edmund's life. After that the prophecy comes true, the Witch is defeated, and they become Kings and Queens. I loved the book because it is so different from life and that the children are so adventurous and not boring at all. I would recommend it for children nine and above because the vocabulary is quite advanced. Reviewed by Steph(9)

The Lion the Witch and the wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

When Edmund, Peter, Susana nd Lucy play hide and seek, Lucy finds the wardrobe and it takes her into Narnia. Then all of them go into Narnia to fight the witch and when the witch is dead they get crowned Kings and Queens of Narnia. My favourite part was when they get crowned because its fun to get crowned. I reccomend this to 7 to 10 year olds becaue it is violent. Reviewed by Connor

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is by C.S. Lewis. It is about how Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter defeat the White Witch. Can they discover the real Narnia that is not under the influence of the White Witch? Lucy discovers the magic wardrobe while they are playing hide and seek. She hides in it and discovers Narnia where she meets a faun called Mr Tumnus. Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter go into Narnia where they meet Mr and Mrs Beaver, who must get the children to Aslan. Edmund betrays them and goes to the White Witch who throws him into the dungeons. The children and Aslan's followers rescue Edmund. In the last battle Aslan and Edmund defeat the witch and her reign ends. When the children reach Cair Paravel they become kings and queens. I liked how in the book you had such a clear picture of what was happening. I also loved how you did not know what would happen next. In some books you can figure out what happens next. I would recommend this book to people who are able to understand books very well and aslo have a big vocabulary. Reviewed by Alexandra(10)

Heartland Coming Home by Lauren Brooke

Heartland Coming Home is by Lauren Brooke. It is about how Amy finds the courage to do what she has always dreamed of doing the courage to turn her nightmares into dreams? Amy's mum dies trying to save a horse, Amy believes it is all her fault. With the help of her fiends and family as well as the horses she must find the courage to face her fears. If she does not find the courage to face her fears Heartland will perish. If Heartland perishes she will never get her lifelong dream. Heartland Coming Home is a brilliant book for girls who are horse crazy. It is a truly heart warming story about a broken girl and her courage to face her fears. When I read Heartland Coming Home I would dream of what might happen next. That is why I loved it so much. Reviewed by Alexandra 10
