Pagan in Exile by Catherine Jinks

Pagan in Exile is a wonderful book. Pagan escapes to France with his Lord Roland, but all is not yet safe. This book is set in 1188 a year after Jerusalem had fallen to the Infidels. Pagan and his Master Lord Roucy de Bram, a Tempar Knight escape from Jerusalem and flee to France, Lord Roland's birth place. Pagan Kidmuk is the main charcter. He was born in Bethlehem but since his mother didn't want him he was sent to a monestry. The monestry was crule and he ran away when he was ten. He then traveled to Jerusalem in search of work and money. He fell into debt and become a squire so he would be paid. His Tempar Lord is Lord Roland and is noble and thinks many if not all good people are innocent. In the first book Pagans Crusade is set in Jerusalem and they have to fight the Infidels. They then have to flee to France (Carcosne) to his fathers house where his welcome is violent. Pagan has to try and help him entice Lord Rolands family to the crucade. The Pagan books are funny, sad and witty all at the same time. I would rate this book at three stars out of five. Reviewed by Phoebe
