Kit, An American girl by Valerie Tripp
Kit, An American Girl is a series of 6 books set in Cincinnati, USA, during The Great Depression of the 1930's.
Kit's father loses his job and Kit's family struggles to find a way to get money.
I learnt about Hobo's boarding houses, soup kitchen's and life during the 1930's.
I really like the character Kit, because when she is having trouble she always finds a way to make it work.
Each book has a 'Looking Back' sectionin the back of the book which explores facts about life during the 1930's.
By reading the Kit stories I also got to learn how families lived during The Great Depression.
